Atmel SAM D – New Benchmark in Flexibility and Ease-of-Use

Atmel SAM D MCUs have the 32-bit performance of the ARM Cortex-M0+ based core. Offered in packages ranging from 14- to 64-pins, andwith 8KB to 256KB of Flash memory, you have plenty of room to expand your firmware. And, the chips include an optimized and powerful peripheral set that we developed for our XMEGA® and AVR-32 product lines. Atmel SAM4L – Redefining the Power Benchmark

Atmel SAM4L MCUs redefine the power benchmark for ARM Cortex-M4 based devices, delivering the lowest power in active mode (down to 90µA/MHz) as well as sleep mode with full RAM retention (1.5µA) and the shortest wake-up time (down to 1.5µs). Embedding proprietary picoPower technology, the SAM4L family provides highly efficient signal processing, ease of use and high-speed communication peripherals—making them ideal for power-sensitive designs in the industrial, healthcare and consumer application areas. The device family also features Atmel SleepWalking™ technology, which allows the peripherals to make intelligent decisions and wake up the system upon qualifying events at the peripheral level. Atmel SAM4S – Scalable Performance and Memory Density, Outstanding Power Efficiency

Atmel SAM4S MCUs extend the Atmel ARM Cortex-M portfolio to include:

  • Increased performance and power efficiency
  • Higher memory densities
  • A rich peripheral set for connectivity, system control and analog interfacing
  • Pin-to-pin and software compatibility with current Atmel SAM3 ARM Cortex-M3 based devices

With up to 1MB and 2MB of embedded Flash, the SAM4S16 and SAM4SD32 are ideal for industrial and consumer applications requiring increased program memory, data storage and low power consumption. Atmel SAM4E – Designed for Industrial Automation, Building Control, M2M

The Atmel SAM4E features advanced connectivity peripherals and a floating point unit (FPU) that can run at 120MHz. This series of devices is ideal for industrial automation, home and building control, and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications applications.

The SAM4E includes embedded Flash memory up to 1MB, safety and security features, and extensive communications links, including Ethernet IEEE1588 MAC, USB 2.0 Device and Dual CAN. Its advanced analog block includes two independent, 16-bit ADCs offering dual sample-and-hold capability, offset and gain error correction, and a programmable gain amplifier enabling measurement of a wide input signal range with high precision. Atmel SAM4N – Converging Performance and Simplicity

The entry point to the Atmel SAM4 family is the Atmel SAM4N, which operates at 80MHz and features power consumption of just 200µA/MHz. It includes up to 1MB of Flash memory and up to 80KB of SRAM.

It is fully pin-to-pin compatible with the Atmel SAM7S, SAM3S, SAM3N, and SAM4S series of devices, making it the ideal for entry-point applications where higher performance MCUs may be required in the future. Learn more about the SAM4N family.

Atmel SAM R21– Wireless with ARM-based Core and Low Power

The SAM W21 wireless ICs combine an ARM Cortex-M0+ based core with Atmel peripherals including a full-speed USB and a 2.4GHz radio suitable for 802.15.4 Zigbee or proprietary protocols. Learn more about the SAM R21 series.

The new single-chip series is available in extremely small 5x5mm 32-pin and 7x7mm 48-pin package saving board space and reducing the overall bill of materials.

Atmel SAM4C/CM – Smart Energy with ARM-based Intelligence

The SAM4C series has a dual-core processor ideal for smart metering. It comes in 512KB and 1024KB versions. The SAM4CM chips build on the same dual core, and include single- or poly-phase metrology circuits. Learn more about the SAM 4C/CMfamily.

Atmel provides for 3000:1 dynamic range and class 0.2 metrology to give excellent accuracy over a wide temperature range. Integrated on-chip are voltage regulators and a 10-bit successive approximation analog to digital converter (ADC) that you can digitally average to give 12-bit resolution. Atmel Studio 6 – Your Gateway to Design Applications

Atmel Studio 6 is the integrated development platform (IDP) for developing and debugging Atmel ARM Cortex-M and Atmel AVR® microcontroller based applications. The Atmel Studio 6 IDP gives you a seamless and easy-to-use environment to write, build, and debug your applications written in C/C++ or assembly code.

Atmel Studio 6 is free of charge and is integrated with the Atmel Software Framework (ASF)—a large library of free source code. ASF strengthens the development platform by providing access to ready-to-use code in the same environment, minimizing much of the low-level design required for projects. Use the IDP for the wide variety of AVR and ARM Cortex-M based MCUs, including our broadened portfolio of ARM Cortex-M3 and M4 based Flash devices.

With the recent introduction of Atmel Gallery and Atmel Spaces, Atmel Studio 6 further simplifies embedded MCU designs to reduce development time and cost. Atmel Gallery is an online apps store for development tools and embedded software. Atmel Spaces is a cloud-based collaborative development workspace that allows you to host software and hardware projects targeting Atmel MCUs. Learn more about Studio 6.
