Cooling fans have a more benign environment than the turbocharger actuators, but being in the engine compartment, they still need to withstand 125C or higher temperatures. Cooling fans do require greater power levels, from hundreds of watts up to a kiloWatt. Because of these higher power levels, the microcontroller must use sophisticated commutation algorithms to achieve the best efficiency and maximize fuel savings.
