Atmel has developed a new generation of high-end 32-bit secure microcontrollers for trusted electronic transaction terminals EFTP, POS, PINPADS, Health Card Readers and Home Banking.

The AT91SO100 is a system-on-chip with high-end security features designed to meet the industry’s most stringent security requirements for payment transactions complying with EMV standard, PCI/PED and FINREAD.

A Fully-integrated One-chip Solution
Based on the ARM® SecurCore™ SC100 CPU core, the AT91SO100 features 256 Kbytes of EEPROM for program and data, 100 Kbytes of RAM and 32 Kbytes of ROM. It includes a lot of dedicated peripherals as smart card and magnetic stripe card interface, as well as USB, SPI, UARTs and I/O ports.

In addition, Atmel offers four AT91S0 family members built-on the AT91SO100. AT91S0101 integrates an analog smart card interface in a BGA 256 single package solution embedding two chips, the AT91SO100 and the AT83C26, which physically interface with up to five smart cards.

The AT91SO50, AT91SO51 and AT91SO25 offer different optimized packages to fit the various secure systems applications.

High Security Level
The AT91SO100 hosts strong security mechanisms, including intrusion sensors, dedicated hardware protections, real time clock and battery backup. It also has an impressive set of cryptography features, hardware DES/TDES, hardware AES, hardware SHA-n, hardware cryptography accelerator for asymmetric algorithms (RSA, Elliptic curves, Key generation) and a true random number generator.
