Atmel's I2C-compatible (two-wire) family of Serial EEPROMs is designed to provide flexible, non-volatile data storage for the industry’s most popular applications, from consumer to industrial to telecommunications. Serial EEPROM products provide a unique combination of performance, combining excellent write endurance, data retention, byte-write capability and low power consumption into a single product.
Supported by all Atmel® microcontrollers (MCUs), the new AT24MAC series devices include a IEEE-defined 48-bit MAC/EUI or 64-bit EUI and a 128-bit pre-programmed serial number outside of the standard EEPROM arrays, enabling you to bring any wired or wireless “connected” or networked application to market faster.
The AT24CS series comes pre-programmed with a guaranteed unique 128-bit serial number that you can use to give any application an independent and totally unique ID. These parts can help you simplify inventory control of mass production lines and enhance product traceability.

The 2Kb, I2C-compatible Atmel® AT24MAC402 and AT24MAC602 Serial EEPROM devices are application-specific products that contain unique IEEE-provided 48-bit or 64-bit pre-programmed MAC/EUI addresses to enable connected devices to connect to the Internet or local network. The devices also contain a unique read-only 128-bit serial number and 2Kb of user-accessible EEPROM non-volatile memory (NVM) storage. |
The AT24MAC series of devices feature pre-programmed Media Access Control (MAC)/Extended Unique Identifier (EUI) node identity addresses, alleviating the need for customers to program their own MAC/EUI addresses and maintain the associated complex databases, making it simpler, faster and less expensive to develop Internet-connected products of all types Storing the MAC/EUI in a pre-programmed device increases manufacturing throughput, compared with production control methods commonly used today. Further, using these devices will eliminate the problem of duplicate MAC/EUI addresses, an issue often seen when there are multiple manufacturing facilities or product platforms sharing the same bank of usable addresses.
