The devices come with free Atmel Linux and Android™ ports and a Qt SDK, as well as a complete set of C examples for non-OS users. SAMA5D3 series:
Operating at 850DMIPS at under 150mW, the SAMA5D3 MPU is ideal for any high-performance, low-power and cost-sensitive industrial application.
SAMA5D4 series:
Atmel’s SAMA5D4 MPU includes a 720p hardware video decoder and high level of security making it ideal for any high-performance, secure and cost-sensitive industrial application requiring video playback.

  • High-performance architecture — Based on the ARM Cortex-A5 core with floating-point unit (FPU), the SAMA5 series is ideal for applications requiring high-precision computing and fast data processing. It features a 64-bit internal bus architecture, a 32-bit wide DDR controller that offers up to 1408MB/s of bandwidth, as well as Neon/VPFU for accelerated data processing.
  • Market-leading low power consumption — Innovative techniques push down power consumption at less than 150mW when running at maximum speed and under 0.5mW in low-power mode. This makes it ideal for battery-operated applications.
  • Comprehensive peripheral set for connectivity and user interface applications — Includes Gigabit and 10/100 Ethernet, up to three high-speed USB ports, dual CAN, several SDIO/SD/MMC, UARTs, SPIs, TWIs, soft modem, LCD controller with graphics accelerator, 720p hardware video decoder, camera interface, ADC, 32-bit timers, and more.
  • State-of-the-art security — Code protection includes a secure boot and on-the-fly encryption/decryption of the DDR bus, ARM Trust Zone. , hardware cryptography engines such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard)/3DES (Triple Data Encryption Standard), RSA (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman) , ECC (Elliptic Curves Cryptography), as well as SHA (Secure Hash Algorithm) and TRNG (True Random Number Generator) to encrypt sensitive data and secure external transfers. Tamper pins detection protects the system against intrusion and gives secure data storage.
  • Safety — The SAMA5 includes functions which ease the implementation of safety standards like IEC61508. These include a main crystal oscillator clock with failure detector, POR (power-on reset), independent watchdog timers, write protection register, Memory Management Unit (MMU), Integrity Check Monitor (ICM) based on SHA and ARM trust Zone.
  • Low system cost — The 0.8mm ball pitch package enables simple and low-cost PCB design. A simple power management scheme that only requires a discrete power supply or low cost PMIC. Impedance matching on DDR lines reduce the need for external components. Three USB ports save the cost of an external USB hub and the integrated soft modem saves the cost of an external device.
  • Extensive ecosystem — Delivered with free Atmel Linux® and Android™ ports and a Qt SDK, as well as a complete set of C examples for non-OS users.
