The AVR UC3 L Series is Atmel’s first picoPower® 32-bit microcontroller, and offers a wide range of innovative technical features. The series is ideal for battery-powered, portable consumer applications, board controller, game pads, remote controls, and human interface devices. |
The AVR UC3 L Series runs on 165 µA/MHz in active mode, 600 nA with RTC running, and down to 9 nA with all clocks stopped. The UC3L features a built-in capacitive touch module supporting 17 channels in hardware, and each channel can be configured as buttons, sliders and wheels. The glue logic controller contains programmable logic and lookup tables that can be connected to GPIO pins, which can reduce the amount of external components. To safeguard sensitive data, FlashVault™ code protection enables on-chip flash to be partially programmed and locked, for secure on-chip storage of software intellectual property. FlashVault code protection can carry software such as a math library or an encryption algorithm to potentially untrustworthy environments where the rest of the source code can be developed and debugged.

The AVR UC3 D Series is an entry-level 32-bit microcontroller that offers designers a rich feature set of devices containing a hardware QTouch® capacitive touch interface, Full-Speed USB Device, RTC with calendar, 10-bit ADC, USART, SPI, TWI, PWM and I2S . The low-power UC3D embeds SleepWalking technology that allows a peripheral to wake the device from sleep mode. The UC3D features a built-in capacitive touch module supporting up to 25 channels in hardware, and each channel can be configured as buttons, sliders and wheels. The Glue Logic Controller (GLOC) contains programmable logic and lookup tables that can be connected to GPIO pins, which can reduce the amount of external components. |
The UC3D is pin-compatible with the UC3B Series. The UC3B offers higher memory densities and USB OTG and offers a migration path for UC3D customers requiring more functionality and performance.

The AVR UC3 A3/A4 Series is designed for exceptionally high data throughput with Hi-Speed USB device and host, SD/SDIO card, Multi-Level-Cell (MLC) NAND flash with ECC and SDRAM interfaces. It is particularly well suited for applications like audio, biometric, communication, USB to SDcard bridges and USB dongles. |
With its multi-layered AVR databus, 128 KB on-chip SRAM split into 3 banks for higher throughput, and multi-channel peripheral and memory-to-memory DMA controller, the A3/A4 offers outstanding data transfer rates. The device also features a 16-bit stereo Audio DAC and a full duplex multi-channel I2S audio interface. The A3/A4 series is available with an optional AES crypto module capable of 128 to 256-bit AES encryption at speeds of up to 22.8 Mbytes/s.
