The Atmel CryptoAuthentication™ family of solutions offers product designers an extremely cost-effective hardware authentication capability in a wide variety of space-conscious packages. CryptoAuthentication ICs can securely validate a wide variety of physical or logical elements in virtually any microprocessor-based system. The device family supports the Secure Hash Algorithm(SHA-256), one of the latest algorithms approved by cryptographic experts and governments around the world. World class protection is ensured with hardware security fortifications like full active metal shields, multiple tamper detection schemes, internal encryption, and many other features designed to thwart the most determined attacks.

The devices in this family include generous, secure storage segmented into zones which can be individually configured to meet a wide variety of applications. It also includes a FIPS certifiable random number generator usable for authentication or any other system purpose. Every CryptoAuthentication device contains a pre-programmed serial number that is guaranteed unique. The devices are ideal for a variety of applications especially in embedded systems where security is paramount.
