Embed Atmel Touch Technology into Microcontroller Firmware
Atmel QTouch® Library makes it simple for developers to embed capacitive-touch button, slider, and wheel functionality into general-purpose Atmel AT91SAM and AVR® microcontroller applications. The royalty-free QTouch Library provides several library files for each device and supports different numbers of touch channels, enabling both flexibility and efficiency in touch applications. By selecting the library file supporting the exact number of channels needed, developers can achieve a more compact and efficient code using less RAM. See Buttons, Sliders and Wheels for information on the application specific Atmel device family.
Key Features
- Developer's choice — QTouch Library can be used to develop single-chip solutions for many control applications, or to reduce chip count in more complex applications.
- Profusion of combinations — Developers have the latitude to implement buttons, sliders, and wheels in a variety of combinations on a single interface.
- Broad controller support — QTouch Library supports Atmel MCUs, AT91SAM, tinyAVR®, megaAVR®, XMEGA™, UC3A, and UC3B.
- Numerous channels — Up to 64 sense channels are supported for maximum interface sensitivity; 256-level sliders and wheels require only three channels.
- Three acquisition methods — QTouch Library supports three patented capacitive touch acquisition methods: QTouch, QTouchADC and QMatrix®.
- Precise operation — Atmel Adjacent Key Suppression® (AKS®) technology enables unambiguous detection of button touches for maximum precision.
- Prevent bounce — Full debouncing reports for touch buttons helps ensure single, clean contacts.
- Common API — A common API across all library versions simplifies development.

QTouch Library is a royalty-free software library (GCC and IAR™) for developing touch applications on standard Atmel AT91SAM and AVR microcontrollers. Developers can use it to integrate touch-sensing capability into their applications by linking the library into firmware. The library can be used to develop single-chip solutions for many control applications or to reduce chip count in more complex applications.
